USCIS Field and Asylum offices set to open and resume services to the public today, June 4, 2020; however, USCIS Application offices will remain closed until further notice.
Field and Asylum offices will begin seeing visitors by appointment only.
So, what is it that you need to know before you heading to a USCIS office?
In keeping with social distancing guidelines, visitors are being asked to wear facial coverings, adhere to distance markers and physical barriers. Visitors are also asked to bring with them a blue or black ink pen.
In the interest of keeping with the orderly operations of each office, visitors are being asked to arrive 15-30 before their scheduled appointment or naturalization ceremony as they may have to complete a health screening questionnaire before being allowed into a US immigration facility.
Video Interviews for Asylum
Asylum Offices will be conducting video interviews in separate rooms designated at the facility. Applicants can only be accompanied by an interpreter, dependents listed on the application, legal- representative, an individual providing disability accommodations, and/or a "trusted adult" in the case of minors.
US Citizenship and Green Card Interviews
Naturalization Ceremonies will have a condensed presentation and attendance is limited to the candidate being naturalized and one additional person if they are assisting with disability accommodations.
General Interviews will be limited to the applicant, their legal representative, one family member, and one individual if they are providing disability accommodations. As for interpreters as it pertains to general interviews, they should arrange to be available via phone.
Failure to adhere to USCIS outlined precautions and procedures could result in having to reschedule your appointment or significant processing delays so be sure to follow these guidelines.
